Harrogate and Nidderdale Art Club was formed in 1936, for Yorkshire Artists in the local area. It currently has 91 members (and no waiting list) and meets every Friday evening between 7 and 9 PM, for the time being at the Cairn Hotel, Ripon Road, Harrogate although this is currently under review.
There is a structured weekly programme from September to the end of May, which includes professional demonstrations, workshops, and the opportunity to draw and paint from models, still life and projected landscape slides. The club also has a lively social aspect
At least twice a year there are specially arranged public exhibitions, giving members a chance to display and sell their work.
These are usually held in Ripley Town Hall, one over the busy May Day holiday weekend , with a in the autumn.
One or two interesting trips are also normally offered in the spring and summer.
A newsletter, 'Brushstrokes', is published at regular intervals with up-to-date information relating to the programme, other Club activities and news.
