Spring Exhibition May 2018
The exhibition was once again a great success, showing 220 paintings by 42 members.
The exhibition was opened by Sir Thomas Inglby, who awarded the Ron Smith Cup to Julie Buckly for her painting "Black Labrador". Artist Susan Neale awarded the Ackrill Trophy to Helen Cassidy for her painting "Spring Lane". The runaway winner of the People's Choice Acvant Art Trophy was Julie Buckly for her painting "Spring Sunshine".
The Special Exhibition Theme competition this year was "Springtime" and the worthy winner was Karan McGrath for her painting "A Host Of Daffodils".
18 framed paintings and 5 mounted pictures were sold along with a large number of cards.
It was good to see a number of entries by new members.
Each year we hold two exhibitions at Ripley Town Hall. One in the spring and the other in the autumn. Club members entering a painting in the spring have the chance of winning one of three trophies, the Ron Smith Cup, the Ackrill Trophy, and the Avant Art Prize for the People's Choice of painting. For the Autumn Exhibition we have the Artists Choice tropy and a prize for the people's choice of painting.
These exhibitions give members the opportunity to showcase their framed paintings, unframed mounted pictures, limited edition prints and greetings cards. Admission is free and most of the works on display are for sale
