Autumn Exhibition November 2017
This Autumn Exhibition took place at Ripley Town Hall on the weekend of 24th – 26th November,
and was opened by Anne Jones the Mayor of Harrogate.
There were 267 entries by 42 members, of which 184 were framed and 83 mounted.
This was a pleasing number of entries, making a very good exhibition, and it was good to see that a number of our newer members had submitted work.
Once again a very high standard of work was on display, and this was commented on by many visitors.
The Artist’s Choice Trophy was chosen and presented by John Harrison to Chris Dicken for his painting ‘Swinsty, Winter’. He also picked out Julie Buckley’s painting ‘Lara’ as being exceptional.
The people’s choice vote went to Susan Dalby for her picture “A Winters Tale”.
Each year we hold two exhibitions at Ripley Town Hall. One in the spring and the other in the autumn. Club members entering a painting in the spring have the chance of winning one of three trophies, the Ron Smith Cup, the Ackrill Trophy, and the Avant Art Prize for the People's Choice of painting. For the Autumn Exhibition we have the Artists Choice tropy and a prize for the people's choice of painting.
These exhibitions give members the opportunity to showcase their framed paintings, unframed mounted pictures, limited edition prints and greetings cards. Admission is free and most of the works on display are for sale.
