Spring Exhibition April 2017
This year's Spring Exhibition was held on 29th April - 1st May at Ripley Town Hall.
We had 190 framed paintings on display, most of which were for sale, along with other unframed works and greetings cards.
The exhibition was formally opened by our patron Sir Thomas Ingilby.
Our Judge for the Artists Choice this year was Laney Birkhead and
She awarded the trophy to Helen Cassidy for her painting "Moonlight".
Our Judge for the Ron Smith's Cup was Malcolm Lynch of Wrigley's Solicitors and he awarded the trophy to Marina Emptage for her painting "Two Ducks".
The winner of The People's Choice prize was Gillian Dunsmore with her painting entitled
"The Checked Cloth"
Each year we hold two exhibitions at Ripley Town Hall. One in the spring and the other in the autumn. Club members entering a painting in the spring have the chance of winning one of three trophies, the Ron Smith Cup, the Ackrill Trophy, and the Avant Art Prize for the People's Choice of painting. For the Autumn Exhibition we have the Artists Choice tropy and a prize for the people's choice of painting.
These exhibitions give members the opportunity to showcase their framed paintings, unframed mounted pictures, limited edition prints and greetings cards. Admission is free and most of the works on display are for sale.
